Allyson Best currently serves as the Director for the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at The University of Mississippi. Much of the scholarly research at the university is relevant to the commercial sector, and the Office of Technology Commercialization helps UM employees realize and harness this potential.
The University currently has twenty-two licenses with companies, and those companies range from startups to existing industry. There are eight University of Mississippi products on the market earning royalties and another four technologies in clinical development for biomedical applications. Commercialization rewards the researcher, the University, and the public, and OTC’s mission is to stimulate, protect, manage and transfer intellectual property from the University to the private sector. OTC’s work is accomplished through market analysis, intellectual property protection and business development for the innovations out the university.
Allyson earned her B.S. in Marketing from Clemson University and her M.B.A. in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management from The University of Mississippi.
