Hu Meena serves as president and chief executive officer of C Spire, formerly known as Cellular South, which provides fiber-optic and wireless voice and broadband connectivity and cloud services from its home base in Mississippi to consumer and enterprise customers across the Southeast. He is responsible for the strategic direction of the brand and for setting the vision of the company.
Prior to joining Cellular South, Meena served as general manager of Southland Systems of Mississippi Inc., a long distance telecommunications service provider. He was also responsible for the startup of the operations of Telepak Networks Inc., a fiber optic based broadband networking company that operates under the name C Spire Fiber.
In addition to its Fiber to the Home and other Home Services, C Spire has recently branched out into the telemedicine industry. Through a partnership with the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), C Spire is providing connectivity for rural patients to link to UMMC specialists and better manage their chronic illnesses and continues to grow in the telehealth field.
C Spire has received numerous awards, including 2013 Business of the Year by the Mississippi Business Journal; the PRISM award from the Public Relations Association of Mississippi; and an award from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency for its quick response to help restore and provide internet and voice service after an EF-4 tornado devastated the city of Louisville. Meena was named Business Person of the Year in 2013 by the Mississippi Business Journal and received the 2014 “Mississippian of the Year” award from the Jackson chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals for technology leadership and advocacy in his home state.
Meena serves as a member of the boards of directors of Telapex Inc., Reformed Theological Seminary and the University of Mississippi Foundation. He is past chairman of the board of the Associated Carrier Group and the Competitive Carriers Association. He is married to Ashley Creekmore Meena, and they have three sons, Victor Matthew, Wade Albert and Lee Creekmore.
